Rupert Grint has apologised to music fans who’ve been terrorised by his ‘super annoying’ Ed Sheeran character for years.
The actor created the Ed Sheeran character after his amazingly successful run as Ron Weasley in ‘Harry Potter’.
‘After “Harry Potter” ended, I was left twiddling my thumbs a bit. I was so associated with Ron Weasley that is was hard to find any other work.
‘That’s always a problem in acting: you become typecast. So I set out to find a transphobic centrist who could write a good wizard story but they were surprisingly hard to come by.
‘I decided to create my own character instead. Ed Sheeran, an inexplicably popular musician with loads of hits that most people can only name one of,’ said Grint.
By scruffing up his hair, growing out some stubble and holding a guitar, Rupert Grint played the Ed Sheeran character to perfection. But it was too much for many people.
Music fans quickly turned against Sheeran and now Grint says it’s time to retire the character.
‘It was an amazing run playing Ed Sheeran but it’s time to rest the character for a while. People are stressed enough as it is and I don’t want to add to that. I’m sorry to any music fans I’ve offended,’ he told us.
