Sir Keir Starmer claimed that he was ready to lead Britain and almost kept a straight face before inevitably breaking out in a fit of laughter.
The claim came during the Labour leader’s speech at the party conference earlier today.
“Britain faces a big moment in its history that demands proper leadership. It’s increasingly clear that Boris Johnson is not up to the task. I am up to the task and I’m ready to lead Britain,” Starmer told the audience.
He was able to keep a straight face for almost half a second before the corners of his lips started twitching. He then broke entirely into a fit of laughter that lasted a full minute before he was able to calm himself down.
“I’m sorry, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep a straight face through that. Seriously though, can we have a leadership challenge or something? Even I’m bored of myself being Labour leader. We must have someone capable of replacing me.”
It was at that point the audience grew deathly quiet apart from a few, gentle sobs.
