Matt Hancock claims that he didn’t realise he was breaking any laws when he hired Dido Harding and that he only hired her in the first place because he was such a big fan of her work with Eminem.
Earlier today, the High Court found that Matt Hancock’s process leading to the appointment of Dido Harding as the Chair of the National Institute for Health Protection was unlawful.
But Hancock has fired back at the court’s findings and explained his exact process in making the hiring.
“When you have someone of the calibre of Dido Harding, you don’t need to interview anyone else. Have you heard that song she did with Eminem? It was superb.
“That alone proved she had experience and knowledge of mental health problems. I still stand by my decision, despite what the court says.
“At least I didn’t hire Gary Glitter as Minister for Children’s Health. I had an aide pull me up on that one before I could sign the contract,” said Matt Hancock.
