A selection of cardboard cut-outs will be placed in front of the famous green benches of the House of Commons to provide the illusion that Britain has a competent group of politicians running the show.
The subterfuge could even go so far as covering the entirety of the House of Commons with one big picture of the EU Parliament.
“I got the idea from the supermarkets,” admitted Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “An awful lot of them are putting up pictures of comestibles in lieu of fare they don’t have.
“Our stock of competent politicians is on the low side right now. The cardboard cut-outs will be a temporary measure until things improve.”
The cardboard cut-outs, while not sentient, are expected to not only provide a desirable illusion but are also likely to have better ideas than Britain’s current crop of politicians.
